Luis Mendoza appeals from the sentence imposed following his plea of no contest to one count of rape with a victim who was 11 years old, in violation of K.S.A. 21-3502(a)(2). As part of the plea agreement, the State dismissed all other charges and agreed to recommend a downward departure to the sentencing grid.
