Jamil Fulton was convicted of first-degree murder in violation of K.S.A. 21-3401(a) and criminal possession of a firearm in violation of K.S.A. 21-4304(a)(3). He received a hard 25 life sentence for the off-grid murder offense and a concurrent 8 months' imprisonment for the criminal possession of a firearm conviction. We review the off-grid conviction on direct appeal pursuant to K.S.A. 22-3601(b)(1).
