In 2007, Bryce J. Katz was involved in an early morning automobile accident outside a Lawrence bar. A short time later, he was arrested for driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. After his arrest, he failed an Intoxilyzer 5000 breath alcohol test and was informed by the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDR) that his driving privileges would be suspended.
