Ivan Reed's car collided with a Union Pacific train, and he received treatment for his traumatic injuries at Via Christi Regional Medical Center. Via Christi filed a hospital lien for the more than $80,000 in services it provided to Reed, and then it filed an action to enforce the lien on the $540,000 in proceeds that Reed eventually received from a personal injury settlement with Union Pacific. Reed counterclaimed and alleged that Via Christi's bill charges...
