GREENE, J.

Jimmy W. Miles appeals the district court's denial of his request for appointment of a qualified expert to evaluate him in connection with the annual review of his status as a sexually violent predator. Concluding the district court failed to make adequate findings to deny Miles an independent examination, and that Miles did not receive assistance of counsel required by statute, we reverse and remand for further proceedings.
