¶ 1 Defendant Clayton Rockman was convicted in 1983 by a jury of first-degree murder. At the sentencing hearing held on July 21, 1983, the trial judge made a factual finding that the murder was exceptionally brutal and heinous. At that time, this factual finding made defendant eligible for an extended-term sentence, and defendant was sentenced to 75 years in the Illinois...
