Plaintiff, Marla Beth Torf, was injured while attempting to evacuate a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train and brought an action against the CTA seeking to recover damages for negligence. The trial court granted summary judgment in favor of the CTA, finding that it was immune from liability under the Metropolitan Transit Authority Act (the Act) (70 ILCS 3605/27 (West 2008)).
