Defendant, Ernesto Valle, appeals from his conviction of first-degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(1) (West 2006)) with a sentencing enhancement based on defendant's having personally discharged the firearm that killed the victim (730 ILCS 5/5-8-1(a)(1)(d)(iii) (West 2006)). He contends that, because certain inculpatory statements he made during police interrogation were involuntary, the court erred in admitting them...
