A jury found defendant guilty of the offenses of armed habitual criminal, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon on February 7, 2008. Following the denial of defendant's motion for new trial, the trial court sentenced defendant to a 23-year term of imprisonment in the Department of Corrections for the offense of armed habitual criminal.
