OPINION

Justice THOMAS delivered the judgment of the court, with opinion.

At issue in this case is whether unused vacation days and sick days are marital property subject to distribution in an action for dissolution of marriage. The circuit court of Sangamon County held that those days were marital property. The appellate court affirmed in part and reversed in part. 386 Ill.App.3d 718, 325 Ill.Dec. 884, 898 N.E.2d 1163
