After a consolidated jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant Ralph Hopkins was convicted of one count of armed robbery (720 ILCS 5/18-2 (West 2000)) and one count of attempted armed robbery (720 ILCS 5/8-4, 18-2 (West 2000)), based, in part, on the inculpatory statements he made to police following his arrest.
