Justice PATTI delivered the opinion of the court:

Following a bench trial, defendant Michael Williams was convicted of being an armed habitual criminal and sentenced to six years' imprisonment with fines and fees. Defendant contends on appeal that he was erroneously credited 248 days for presentencing detention when he is entitled to 288 days' credit, including the day of sentencing. The State concedes the error but contends that defendant is entitled to 287 days...
