Defendant, Romelio Evangelista, pleaded guilty to two charges of residential burglary (720 ILCS 5/19-3(a) (West 2006)). In exchange for the pleas, the State agreed to dismiss similar charges in three other cases. The trial court sentenced defendant to concurrent nine-year prison terms. Defendant appeals, contending that (1) the nine-year sentences were an abuse of discretion and (2) various fines and fees imposed...
