Justice HOFFMAN delivered the opinion of the court:

Following a bench trial, the defendant was convicted of second degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9-2(a)(1) (West 2004)) and sentenced to a term of 20 years in prison. On appeal, the defendant challenges his conviction and sentence, asserting that (1) the trial court erred in failing to suppress his videotaped statement because he was arrested without probable cause and (2) because he was 16 years old at the time of the offense...
