On April 22, 2003, Ru Hai Liu fell down an open elevator shaft, and died. Liu worked for Yong Shing Wholesale Trading Company, which subleased the premises from defendant Auster Company. Defendant Auster Company had leased the premises from the owner of the building, defendant Auster Trust.
