The defendant, Anthony P. Oliver, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (720 ILCS 570/401(a)(2)(B) (West 2002)) and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (720 ILCS 570/402(a)(2)(B) (West 2002)). He filed pretrial motions to suppress his confession and to quash his arrest, which the circuit court denied. After a bench trial, the court found the defendant guilty...
