On March 5, 2007, pursuant to a fully negotiated plea agreement, defendant, Ricky Hood, pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated vehicular hijacking (720 ILCS 5/8-4(a), 18-4(a)(1) (West 2006)). In exchange, he was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment and other charges against him were dismissed. On June 14, 2007, defendant filed a pro se motion for a reduction of his sentence.
