Following a jury trial, defendant Abraham Gonzalez was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse (720 ILCS 5/12-16(d) (West 2006)) and sentenced to four years' imprisonment. On appeal, defendant contends that his conviction should be reversed because the jury was not properly instructed on his affirmative defense, namely that he had a reasonable belief that the victim was 17 years of age or older.
