Defendant-Appellant Matsu Thornton (Thornton) appeals from the judgment entered by the Circuit Court of the First Circuit1 (circuit court) on August 25, 2008, convicting and sentencing him for Unauthorized Possession of Confidential Personal Information in violation of Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) § 708-839.55 (Supp.2008).2
