RAY, Judge.

After a jury trial, Carlos Alan Stockard was convicted of making a false statement (OCGA § 16-10-20).1 Stockard appeals from the denial of his motion for new trial, arguing that the evidence is insufficient to sustain his conviction because the State failed to prove venue. For the reasons that follow, we agree and reverse.
