After a jury trial, Stanley James Oliver was convicted of kidnapping with bodily injury, rape, and aggravated assault of his former girlfriend, F.W. At trial, the state had elicited testimony from F.W. about Oliver's earlier acquittal on charges of similar crimes against another person. Oliver moved for a new trial on the ground that the trial court erred in allowing this testimony, among other reasons. A different trial judge considered the motion...
