A jury convicted Robert Leonard Ewell of seven counts of aggravated child molestation (Counts 1-7) based upon his sexual interactions with three young boys occurring between 2004 and 2009.1 Following Ewell's amended motion for new trial, the trial court, for sentencing purposes, merged Count 2 into Count 1, and Count 5 into Count 4, but otherwise denied the motion.
