THOMPSON, Justice.

Appellant Stacy Durrence was found guilty of malice murder but mentally ill in connection with the shooting death of Lee Woodcock and sentenced to life in prison under OCGA § 17-7-131.1 He appeals from the denial of his motions for new trial. For the reasons that follow, we affirm.
