Steven Spiker sued Samuel K. Allen to recover damages for injuries sustained in a rear-end collision. Spiker served his uninsured motorist carrier, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, with a copy of the lawsuit. State Farm filed an answer in its own name but dismissed its answer before trial and entered an appearance in Allen's name, as permitted by OCGA § 33-7-11(d).
