Appellant Michael Wilkes's convictions arose from his involvement in the attempted burglary of a mobile phone store. In the aftermath, he attempted to run over a police officer while fleeing the scene to avoid arrest. He was subsequently tried and convicted of attempted second degree murder, attempted felony murder, attempted burglary of a structure while masked, and possession of burglary tools.
