Laurie Lynn Bartlett (Appellant) was charged with the second-degree murder of her live-in boyfriend, Ernest Lamar, arising from the stabbing of the victim with a knife. Pursuant to Florida Rule of Criminal Procedure 3.201, the defense filed notice of intent to rely on self-defense based on the "battered-spouse syndrome." The jury found Appellant guilty of the lesser-included offense of manslaughter, and she was sentenced to ten years' incarceration...
