This case is before the Court on remand from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Sixth Circuit reviewed the Court's denial of an extension of an amended consent decree that included race-based hiring quotas as a remedy for past discrimination by the City of Cleveland in the hiring of firefighters. While not expressing disagreement with the Court's conclusion, the Sixth Circuit vacated the decision...
