Defendant Juan Francisco Lopez was stopped by a Kentucky State Police (KSP) Trooper near Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, after being clocked at a speed of 106 miles per hour. Lopez was arrested and placed in the back of the trooper's vehicle. Thereafter, the Defendant's automobile was searched incident to his arrest.
