In 2014, Brian Shotts was injured in a car accident caused by Dana Pollard. Mr. Shotts's automobile insurance through GEICO General Insurance Company ("GEICO") included underinsured motorist ("UM") coverage.1 Ms. Pollard had automobile insurance through Farmers Insurance ("Farmers").
