Appellant Ronald Salahuddin ("Salahuddin") was the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety in Newark, New Jersey. During his time in public office, he allegedly conspired to use his official position to obtain charitable and political contributions and to direct Newark demolition contracts to Appellant Sonnie Cooper ("Cooper"), with whom Salahuddin was allegedly in business.
