Kathleen McCarthy worked at Ameritech Publishing, Inc. (API), a wholly owned subsidiary of AT & T, until API terminated her position in August 2008. She sought to retire at that time to care for her ailing husband, but API allegedly told her that she was not eligible to receive post-retirement healthcare benefits — benefits on which her husband depended...
