SHEPHERD, Circuit Judge.

Theotis A. Muhammad appeals the district court's1 denial of his 28 U.S.C. § 2255 motion as untimely. We granted a certificate of appealability to address whether the statute of limitations should have been equitably tolled. We agree that equitable tolling was not warranted in this case, and we affirm the district court's denial of Muhammad's section 2255 motion.
