The issue in this appeal is whether the district court properly dismissed the claims purportedly assigned to Michael Todd after determining that he was engaged in the unauthorized practice of law. Todd attempted to purchase claims against Franklin Collection Service, a collection agency, from Vicki Fletcher — who had no relationship to Todd before she assigned her claims to him. He then sued Franklin for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices...
