A new customer of North Shore Bank named Russell Ott applied for a loan to finance the purchase of a motor home from the dealership that Ott himself owned. To secure the loan, Ott presented the motor home's certificate of origin to the Bank and pledged the motor home as collateral. Unfortunately, when Ott defaulted on the loan two years later, the Bank discovered that it had been swindled: Ott's certificate of origin was a fake and the motor...
