WILSON, Circuit Judge:

Alphonso Cave, a Florida state prisoner under sentence of death, appeals the district court's denial of his application for habeas relief under 28 U.S.C. § 2254. He raises five issues for our review, including three claims of ineffective assistance of counsel, an allegation that the district court applied an erroneous standard of review, and an argument that his sentencing violated Ring v. Arizona, 536 U.S. 584
