Defendant-appellant Daniel Poulin was convicted after a bench trial for the production of child pornography in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2251(a). Poulin challenges his conviction on two grounds. First, he asserts that § 2251(a) is unconstitutional as applied to him because his conduct was purely personal and did not have a substantial effect on interstate commerce.
