Andrew Sallenger, 35, suffered from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and in the early-morning hours on April 30, 2002, he experienced a psychotic episode while staying at his mother's house in Springfield, Illinois. A family member called 911 and reported that he was screaming and "running around the house naked" in an agitated and uncontrollable state. Three Springfield police officers responded to the scene, and a violent struggle ensued...
