In 2004, the Michigan Court of Appeals overturned Kimberly Sykes's and Tevya Urquhart's convictions for the state crimes of "Larceny by Conversion" and "False Report of a Felony" on the grounds that their convictions were based on mere "speculation" and "layers of impermissible inferences."
