While being held at a county jail charged with attempting to set fire to the building where his ex-girlfriend lived, defendant Richard Ellison indicated his willingness to give the police information about a pair of unsolved robberies elsewhere. At an interview with a detective involved in the latter cases, Ellison said the girlfriend was the robber and admitted his own supporting role.
