In 2004, Dino Lomeli, a citizen of Mexico, was arrested in Mexico and extradited to the United States to stand trial for murder in Texas state court and conspiracy in the Northern District of Iowa. After pleading guilty to the Texas murder charge, Lomeli pled guilty to conspiracy to launder money and conspiracy to distribute 100 kilograms or more of marijuana and 500 grams or more of cocaine.
