After John Thomas Turpin testified at trial in support of an insanity defense and to exonerate his brother, Gary Goodwin, a jury convicted Turpin of robbery and firearm offenses and acquitted Goodwin. Turpin appeals, arguing the district court1 abused its discretion when it denied his motion to sever and refused to instruct the jury that a person found not guilty by reason of insanity may be involuntarily committed...
