A jury convicted Leon Taylor of first-degree murder under Missouri law, and a different jury sentenced him to death. After the Supreme Court of Missouri affirmed his conviction and sentence and upheld the denial of his motions for state post-conviction relief, Taylor filed a petition for writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254.
