Beale was convicted on five counts of tax evasion in violation of 26 U.S.C. § 7201, one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371, and one count of failure to appear at trial in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 3146(a)(1).
