Following a bench trial in which the district court rejected his insanity defense, appellant Cosme Sanchez-Ramirez ("Sanchez") was convicted of all three counts lodged against him: being a felon in possession of a firearm,1 making a false statement in the acquisition of a firearm,2 and making a false claim of citizenship.3
