He filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus in federal district court1 pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254 alleging: (1) ineffective assistance of counsel, (2) error in the state court's failure to sever his robbery counts, and (3) deprivation of his Sixth Amendment right to a speedy trial.
