POSNER, Circuit Judge.
Compass, the principal defendant (the other defendant need not be discussed separately), appeals from the grant of summary judgment to the plaintiff, Vendetti, in a suit for breach of contract governed by Illinois law. On the view we take of the case, there is no need to decide the plaintiff's cross-appeal, in which he seeks relief beyond what the district court awarded him; so we dismiss it.
