The primary issue in this certified appeal is whether, in a civil case, the trial court was required to grant a party's request to poll the jury to determine if the jurors had read or otherwise been exposed to a newspaper article concerning the subject matter of the case that was published prior to trial. The defendants, Silver Hill Hospital (hospital) and Ellyn Shander, appeal, following our grant of their petitions for certification,
