The petitioner, Ahmed Kenyatta Ebron, pleaded guilty to a variety of criminal charges on the advice of his trial counsel. After he was sentenced, he filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus, claiming, inter alia, that trial counsel had failed to advise him adequately regarding the state's offer of a plea bargain and that this failure constituted ineffective assistance of counsel.
