The defendant, Arnold Bell, was convicted, following a jury trial, of assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-59 (a)(5), carrying a pistol without a permit in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to 2001) § 29-35(a), and criminal possession of a pistol in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to 2001) § 53a-217c (a)(1).
