Defendant Gray Maria was charged in March 2007 with the first degree murder of Mara del Real, with an allegation of personal use of a deadly weapon (a knife) (count 1), and with assault with a deadly weapon (a screwdriver) on Victor Najera (count 2). In January 2008 the trial court found defendant incompetent to stand trial, and several months later he was admitted to Patton State Hospital...
